IF YOU HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS SET UNTIL YOU FIND IT CLEAN, WAIT NO MORE.
THIS. IS. IT.

KEEP SCROLLING DOWN TO SEE TONS MORE PICS!!!! DON'T STOP TIL THE PICS STOP. Go past ALL of the writing--tons more pics.

You are looking at an interesting American Flyer COMPLETE set from 1957 in the original set box with original boxes and wrappers for the components. This is a clean like new set. It is one of those iconic sets that you have always wanted.

THIS is an interesting set. It was a part of the transition year from three digit to five digit. THIS set has the three digit cars in five digit boxes, a reported aspect of the 57 version of the set.
Wow--it is a LONG train. It is the one with the TWO vista domes, the other usual cars as well as the 960 Columbus Combine (Baggage/Club) car.

This is ALOT of vintage train for the money, and an item you will be proud of. Or perhaps you have an American Flyer collector on your gift list.  Can you imagine the look on that collector's face Christmas morning opening this set, right out of 1957?

Please take the time to read the whole description below before bidding. We took time in writing it for you. We look forward to any questions--we answer all emails. We have provided 24 pictures--take advantage of them and look at every detail before bidding. ****There are even MANY more pictures below under the "ADDED DESCRIPTION".*** Remember just how close up these pictures are! They might highlight something you can barely see. AND IF YOU WANT STILL MORE PICTURES, EMAIL US.

Here is a detailed breakdown of each item for your consideration:

THE SET BOX
Is all here. It is structurally nice. There is some wear and some corner softness and wear, all visible in the pictures. The label has some paper rubs and some fading. The number is still visible.

THE 4713 470/471/473 Santa Fe Diesel PA Locomotives
Catalogued as 4713. These are the post-55 versions with the Santa Fe black cross stickers.

THE 470 Santa Fe Diesel PA Locomotive

This diesel is complete and nice as you can see. Everything looks fantastic--super clean. The unit has STRONG printing, great patina. There is a very small 1/8" linear scratch on the roof that is through into the plastic. There is a rub on one corner of the nose decal. Rear corner has a spot where it appears the ladder was pulled off and may have takes a small piece of the edge with it.
This unit is still very sharp and clean. Yet it is probably the weakest unit in the whole set--the rest is all like new.

THE 471 Santa Fe Diesel PB Locomotive
Crisp letters, all ladders. Good decals, super clean. Light scratch on one side on the middle apron.

THE 473 Santa Fe Diesel PA Locomotive, Non-Powered Dummy
Sharp decals, crisp printing. All ladders, Super clean. Super light rub in the decal on one side, about 1/16".

The Passenger cars are all lighted with knuckle couplers and window silhouettes. They all have deep red strong striping. All have very clean undercarriages.

THE 960 Columbus Streamlined COMBINE (Baggage and "Club" coach) Combination

WOW. The car is clean. The lettering and numbering is CRISP.  Upon tight scrutiny, there is very minor roof wear and some scratches on the nameplate one side. Otherise, a like new car.

THE 961 streamlined Jefferson Coach
VERY clean. Crisp lettering. Minimal evidence of handling. Very small indention on one side nameplate--hard to see, but we mention everything.

THE 962 streamlined Hamilton Vista Dome #1
VERY clean. Crisp lettering. Super clean.

THE 962 streamlined Hamilton Vista Dome #2
VERY clean. Crisp lettering. Super clean.

THE 963 Washington streamlined OBSERVATION
Very clean. Like new. A few very scratches in the rear smooth part of the roof-- hard to see, but there.

INDIVIDUAL BOXES
21512 Chief Diesel A Unit: Has both flaps, flap tongie missing one end. A few small punctures on the side.
21514 Chief Diesel A Unit has tape on one end flap with the name and stamp, and it is weak; the other flap is weak but here.
21704 Chief Diesel B Unit is stamped on the end of this box. The tongue of the flap with stamping is missing; the other end flap looks good.
24772 (960R) box has both numbers just like that on the end flap. Tape on one ed flap.  Missing end flap one end.
24812 Red Vista Dome car has one end flap with tape; the other is missing one side flap and that end as a whole is weak.
The three other boxes for the passenger cars are here, but they are missing the end flaps and therefore have no stamping.

OTHER
There is straight and curved track as well.
