Description

  Here's another listing by

Lone Star Trains and Collectibles,

Your Classic Era Train Headquarters!

condition, condition, condition
AS CLEAN AS YOU WILL FIND
ALSO AN INTERESTING Department Store Special #2H009
KEEP SCROLLING ALL THE WAY DOWN TO SEE TONS MORE PICS!!!! DON'T STOP TIL THE PICS STOP.

You are bidding on an interesting American Flyer COMPLETE set from 1951. THIS one was a catalogued set that appears to also have been stamped for a department store special--W.W. Granger I think (similar uncat number to other Granger sets). Instead of a 302, this set came with a 302AC.

This is a set with a SUPER CLEAN 302AC with a sharp wrapper. Everything is clean in this set.

This is ALOT of vintage train for the money, and an item you will be proud of. Or perhaps you have an American Flyer collector on your gift list.

Please take the time to read the whole description below before bidding. We took time in writing it for you. We look forward to any questions--we answer all emails. We have provided 24 pictures--take advantage of them and look at every detail before bidding. ****There are even MANY more pictures all the way down below under the "ADDED DESCRIPTION".*** Remember just how close up these pictures are! They might highlight something you can barely see.

Here is a detailed breakdown of each item for your consideration:

THE 302AC Reading Atlantic Steam Engine and tender

This steam engine and tender are super clean--wow.

WOW. The 302AC is in full excellent plus cosmetic shape--my goodness! Nice paint, crisp lettering. There are a few paint rubs, but they are small and insignificant compared to the overall engine and tender.

Has a WRAPPER. Wrapper is all here and super nice with some of the usual wear on the inside. Best of all, the 302AC stamping is still very crisp on the wrapper--really as nice a wrapper as I have seen.

THIS one:

  • American Flyer tender with Reading logo
  • Smoke
  • Choo-Choo
  • Link coupler
  • 4-4-2 Atlantic
  • Die Cast body
  • Sheet metal tender

Features of freight cars:

  • Link couplers
THE 640 American Flyer Hopper
Super clean and still shiny. Gray with white printing.
BOX: Printing legible though fading. Structurally good. Clear tape on one end. No inside side flaps on the end flaps of the box.

THE 642 Red "Box Car", RED PAINTED version
Super clean. Nice strong printing and patina.  One tiny pin sized paint rub/chip on roof--only in the paint. Otherwise, super.
The BOX for this one is nice. Good printing though faded on one end. Some clear tape on box. Inner side flaps missing one end of box.

The 638 American Flyer Caboose with stack
Very clean and shiny. Sharp printing.
BOX is nice, like the others. Good visible printing on it, though faded.

SET BOX 501T / 2H009
Is all here. There are a few corner rubs and one corner where the box has a small 1 1/2" edge tear along a top edge, but as far as set boxes go, this one is nice. Good label with clearly stamped 501T. Set number is strong on the label--you know how hard that is to get. It ALSO has 2H009 stamped on it, a special department store uncatalogued number. I think it was for WW Granger. Pics show all sides.

PAPER
  • Instruction Book 1950
  • M2236 Inspection Voucher
  • M2809 Instructions for Worm Drive Locomotive with Cylinder Type Smoke Unit
  • M2668 Instructions for 1 25 watt transformer
  • M2626-3 Authorized Service Station Brochure 1950
But WAIT, there is MORE:
  • #1 25 watt transformer in the box, cord is good, a little bit hard but not too bad
  • Box of curved track 702 opened
  • 690 track clip in stained envelope
  • 704 Manual Uncoupler in envelope

Please look at the pictures as they are part of the description.

UNBELIEVABLE. Really this is a set you can run or that any collector would be proud to put on the shelf.  Hard to find with a set box and with the uncatalogued special number as well.

Remember:
condition, condition, condition. You don't know when you'll see this set again, much less this complete and CLEAN.

PLEASE--for the Love of AC GILBERT--ask any questions you may have before bidding.
